Pokerstars recently has began to offer these double or nothing tourneys. This is a great way to build your bankroll. So far, I have played seven of them and cashed in every single one. These tournaments start with ten players and pays out the top five. Yes, I said 5 of 10 get paid. So it's pretty easy to make the money.
Here's an easy atrategy to follow that I've been using and has worked well so far.
1. Be patience. You don't have to play very many hands, but when you do, make them count.
2. Raise your good hands! Raise them somewhere around 3 to 3 1/2 times the BB. When I say this, I'm talking about the top 5 hands. You can refer to the starting hand chart here on the forum if you don't know which ones I'm talking about. If the pots been raised before you, reraise them. With the top ten hands, atleast double the pot.
3. Play your position. Don't let people push you off of pots, if you have a good enough hand to play. Some one min bets, go ahead and raise them back and don't look for a reason to fold. Of course, the situation will very per hand..so use caution as well.
4. Avoid unnecessary risks. When it gets down to the last 6 or 7 people, avoid putting yourself in a situation to get knocked out. This includes having the big stack and just trying to push the small stack around with nothing. If there in the hand, there's a reason.
Remember, survival is key in these and you make the same amount as first place.
